Merged module courses for 2026/27

A Merged Course can be created if you have a set of closely related modules that you want to administer as a single course in Blackboard. For example:

  • Credit and non-credit bearing versions of the same module.
  • Part 3 and Masters versions of a module, where students are taught together.
  • Modules from different programme pathways, with essentially the same content, where students are taught together.

Merged course requirements:

  1. Merges can only be created for modules that run over the same period.
  2. It is not possible to merge modules where a student is enrolled on more than one of the modules being merged.

Make a request:

Fill in the form below. A Service Desk ticket is created. DTS and TEL will then check the request and confirm the details with you to check exactly what is required.

What is created in Blackboard:

A single Merged Course always replaces the individual courses created in Blackboard from the RISIS modules. The individual modules in RISIS become child courses to a newly created Parent course in Blackboard.

Note: Merged Courses should only be used where you wish to replace the child courses in Blackboard. Request a Supplementary Course or Organisation if an additional space is needed.

Merged programme courses requests

This web form is only for merging module courses. To request the merging of programme courses, please submit your request directly using the DTS Self-Service portal.

A Merged Course can be used to combine the Blackboard courses for related programmes. For example, full-time and part-time versions of the same programme.
